"NATYA PRASANA" Srimathi Kalaimangai Anbalagan

Kalaimangai Anbalagan is the founder and artistic director of AmudhaSri Dance School. She is the disciple of Guru. Kalaimamani Smt Vadivudevi Pillai, and later Smt. Suryakala Chandrika Jeevananthan, Canada. AmudhaSri Dance School is a leading and eminent fine arts school located in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts that perpetuates the traditional dance form of Bharatanatyam. The school strives to preserve the artform’s classical rigor and the Indian heritage it is associated with, which is perceived as a popular art within our society. AmudhaSri Dance School strongly believes in giving back to the community by contributing to fundraisers and institutions like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Vision Aid, Adyar Cancer Institute, Genesis Foundation, Umass Pancreatic Cancer Research, and more. Smt. Kalaimangai pursued her career as an IT person, but her passion for dance always had a special place in her heart. She pursued her passion for Indian classical dance by establishing the AmudhaSri Dance school. Ever since, she slowly emerged as an accomplished and graceful dancer that has been featured in many of the major dance festivals in India.

Smt. Kalaimangai has been featured in all the major dance festivals in India, including the Chithambaram dance festival, the Spirit of dance in Ujjain, Natyanjali festival of Thanjavur, Nadana vizhal in Madurai, and many others. Recognized as an exemplary member of the Indian dance community by Charlie Baker, the governor of Massachusetts, she is also a member of the Shrewsbury cultural council. Throughout her time as a pillar in the Massachusetts Bharatanatyam community, Smt. Kalaimangai has been awarded the honorable dance title “Natya Prasanna Award”, “Excellence in Dance” by Power Global Awards, and been awarded by ISW (Indian Society Of Worcester) Organization, USA for her service to the dance field and community, in addition to being honored by the Lokvani newspaper for her talents and service. To this day, her love for Bharatanatyam continues to grow and if it weren’t for her immense dedication and passion, AmudhaSri Dance School wouldn’t have been able to achieve some of its biggest milestones.
